B&R Wins President’s Choice At The 10th Annual Wintergreen Awards

The U.S. Green Building Council Maryland Chapter (USGBC Maryland) awarded the entire Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore team the 2014 President’s Choice Award at the 10th Annual Wintergreen Awards for Excellence in Green Building.

B&R Vice President of Energy Services, Gabriel Velicu, PE, LEED AP, attended the awards, which were held at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, making the win even sweeter. Wintergreen celebrates, promotes and recognizes excellence in high performance, healthy design and building; environmental stewardship and community impact; and serves to highlight the green building initiatives and achievements of the USGBC Maryland region projects, businesses, chapter members and other vested individuals.

B&R served as the Energy Efficiency consultant for the project, assisting in the selection of sustainable MEP systems, coordinating with BGE to acquire energy incentives and working with the equipment vendors and contractors to obtain competitive pricing. B&R also performed a financial feasibility analysis for energy conservation at the casino which led to the installation and implementation of a 1.2 MWatt Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility, which pre-approved for $550,000 in lighting and HVAC rebates and $1,200,000 in CHP incentives.
